Standards & Methodology

How CoinUnited.io Academy builds courses and exams, why the pass mark is set at 70 percent, and how factual accuracy is kept current.

Certification model: competence, not a curve

CoinUnited.io Academy certifications are criterion-referenced. A candidate is measured against a fixed standard of competence, not against other candidates and not on a curve. Passing means the holder demonstrated the defined knowledge; it does not mean they scored better than a percentage of their peers. This is informed by the principles of ISO/IEC 17024, the international benchmark for bodies that certify persons, under which a certification attests that a person meets the requirements of a defined scheme. CoinUnited.io Academy follows these principles; it is not currently ISO/IEC 17024 accredited.

Course design: outcomes first

Each course begins with a documented set of learning outcomes and a module map. Content is written to those outcomes, one module at a time, in plain language, with at least one worked example per module drawn from generic instruments. Nothing is included that does not serve a stated outcome, and nothing a trader needs to meet the outcome is left out. Each course is scoped to a defined time to complete so that the effort required is transparent before a learner starts.

Exam construction

Each exam is a bank of single-best-answer questions mapped to the same learning outcomes as the course. Each sitting draws twenty questions at random from that larger bank, spread across the modules so that a pass reflects the whole syllabus rather than one strong area. Each question has one defensible correct answer and a one-line explanation, and every calculation question is answerable from the formulas taught in the course. Because every sitting is a fresh random draw, the standard is held steady while no two attempts are identical.
