Liquidity

Part of the theme Market mechanics and orders.

Definition

Liquidity is how easily an instrument can be traded in size without moving its price much.

Liquid markets have tight spreads and deep order books, so orders fill near the quoted price. Thin markets produce wider spreads, more slippage, and sharper price spikes.
