Tick size

Part of the theme Derivatives and contracts.

Definition

Tick size is the smallest price increment a contract is allowed to move.

It sets the resolution of prices and, combined with the multiplier or contract size, determines the money value of one tick. A standard stock-index future has a 0.25 index-point tick.
