Karura is a Kusama (KSM)-based decentralized finance (DeFi) hub and stablecoin platform that is incorporated into Polkadot (DOT). The Acala Network, which has won four Web3 Foundation awards and built the Substrate Developer Academy, developed Karura.
Karura and Acala work in conjunction. Karura, for example, is implementing DeFi on Kusama in the same way that Acala does on Polkadot. The network is built on a codebase that is nearly identical to Acala's: the two platforms provide Kusama and Polkadot with scalable, easy and rapid DeFi cross-chain ecosystems. Karura will always receive all Acala team developments and technological improvements before any other Polkadot platforms. As a result, Karura users will be among the first to benefit from the most cutting-edge DeFi technology.
Karura is a DeFi-specific blockchain platform. It runs on KAR, a utility token with a total supply of 100,000,000. The value of KAR is supported by a set number of reserved ACA tokens. The KAR token supports 6 use cases: transaction fees, node incentivization, governance, algorithmic risk adjustment, pallet deployment and smart contract deployment.
